The Cullberg Ballet
The Cullberg Ballet (Swedish: Cullbergbaletten) is a Swedish contemporary dance company.

It was founded by the modern dancer and pioneer choreographer Birgit Cullberg in 1967, who brought it to fame. After Cullberg's retirement in 1985 the company was until 1993 run by her son, the popular Swedish dancer, choreographer and stage director Mats Ek.

From 2003 Cullbergbaletten was managed by choreographer Johan Inger and is now under the leadership of Artistic Director Anna Grip.[1]

The Cullberg Ballet is part of Riksteatern and tours both nationally and internationally.

  1. A swedish contemporary dance company is 'The Cullberg Ballet' which in swedish is 'Cullbergbaletten'. Birgit Cullberg is a modern dancer and choreographer who founded it in 1967 and she is the person who made it become famous. Her son, Mats Ek, took over the running of the company after she retired in 1985 until 1993. Johan Inger managed 'Cullbergbaletten' from 2003 and is now lead by Anna Grip, an artistic director. Cullberg Ballet toured nationally and internationally as part of Riksteanern.
